On December 8th 2013, I went with the Visual Impact Club to the Corning Museum of Glass to watch a few different workshops. The first workshop we saw that demonstrated blowing glass and creating a vessel. For this presentation they used an interactive piece to show the live stream video. Every time they stepped on a mat, the camera would live stream the video that showed that area and projected it onto the blown up screen. There were also other areas where a webcam showed the viewer and the thermal heat projected and detected off the person through different types of glass. We also had the opportunity to blow our own glass and melt different types of glass using a blow torch to create an icicle. We also saw a presentation on glass fibers and how light is used to communicate to computers, replacing coper wires.
